The week that was..

“Please come fast, I am stepping into the operation theatre, but drive slowly” phoned my wife on morning of 30th October 2014. Her voice is quavering and I could feel her pain and disquiet through her unusual and faint sound.

Immediately I barged to the Principal’s office to seek leave permission. He was so kind enough to grant leave immediately and he told me not to hesitate to ask his help if required at any time.

Without much delay I have embarked my journey to Punakha through thick virgin forest of Gasa. Every after each breath, I was praying for triple gem to save my wife. My small car was pumping throughout the journey with my heart palpitating continuously. I exactly do not remember my entire journey as I got deeply engrossed into the thoughts that I never thought till date.

The journey seems much longer than usual in spite of high speed that I never plied. But surprisingly I took only an hour to catch my destination which I usually take about two and half hours. I quickly parked my car near the main hospital gate and rushed immediately through the main entrance. I might have dashed somebody on the way I am sure. There was hundreds of patients queued up to get medical assistance from the hospital.

God is always with me. In just matter of few minutes I managed to enter the post operative room of the hospital. My wife who is lying on the bed in the state of unconsciousness could only glance at me. There was no single words from her neither I could not utter a word. Beside her I saw my one hour old son slumbered in a peaceful manner.  I gently took my son on my lap and sobbed soundlessly for two reasons.

  4. Hum...not bad for being so fertile. A father of two? Haha.. Congrates for having a second child.
A suggestion: I suppose you have overlooked the spelling of Triple Gem in the second line of the third paragraph.
Where are you going as a proctor for this season? Remember our days at Punakha HSS and driving off to Thimphu? haha
